Letterpress & Book Binding Workshop

from 60.00

Have you ever wanted to learn how letterpress printing works? Itching to start making your own journals and sketchbooks? On May 19th, I will be co-hosting a letterpress and bookmaking workshop with the extremely talented Emily Rials of Bound To Help! Come spend a Saturday with us at the Risley Letterpress Shop, as we show you how to set type, print your text on locally handmade paper using antique machinery, and then create two different types of notebooks using paper you've printed yourself!

All experience levels are welcome. We'll provide all the tools and supplies you'll need for printing your own cover pages and assembling two different kinds of books. Payment options are available on a sliding scale. It’ll be a full day of book arts awesomeness! We'll be setting type, letterpress printing, sewing pamphlets, AND creating Coptic-bound journals. Looking forward to seeing you there!

When: Saturday, May 19th, 10am - 5pm (there will be a 30 minute break for lunch)

Where: Risley Letterpress Shop on Cornell campus - Risley Hall, Thurston Ave., Ithaca, NY

What: A hands-on tutorial on basic letterpress printing and book binding techniques. We will be setting type and printing during the first half of our workshop, and making books during the second. All tools and supplies will be provided; we will even have a pre-paid lunch option available (details will be sent via e-mail after you sign up)! Just bring yourself!

Who: This class is open to all levels and backgrounds - no preliminary knowledge of letterpress printing or book binding is necessary. Only 6 spots available!

Price: Asking price is $80, with sliding scale options down to $60. At checkout, just select the amount you feel comfortable giving!

A confirmation email with details and FAQs about the class will be sent at least one week before the workshop.
